The Verada badge appeared in October 1991 in the Second Generation and ran until the Magna/Verada was replaced by the Mitsubishi 380 in October 2005.

The Verada was the upmarket version of the Magna and was based around the export specification Diamante. The idea of the Verada was to compete with Ford's Fairmont and Holden's Calais, also a large upmarket vehicle based off their Falcon and Commodore, as such Veradas have a higher level of standard features than the Magna and look more upmarket.

The Verada was the first Australian built Mitsubishi to feature the 6G72 V6 engine.
