6A1x family
The 6A family of engines are a series of 60 degree V6 engines. They are all-alloy designs with overhead belt driven camshafts. All have fuel injection and some are available in a range of cam-train configurations.
6A10
The 6A10 is a 1.6 litre V6 engine and is the smallest four-stroke V6 ever produced. It displaces 1597 cc using a 73.0 mm x 63.6 mm bore and stroke. The engine is only available in double overhead cam with 24 valve form. It produces 103 kW of power at 7000 rpm and 147 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. It was used in overseas CC through CE Mirage and Lancer models.
6A11
The 6A11 is a 1.8 litre 24-valve single overhead cam V6 displacing 1829 cc. It uses a 75.0 mm x 69.0 mm bore and stroke. It produces 99 kW of power at 6000 rpm and 167 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. It was used in overseas CC through CE Mirage and seventh generation Galant.
6A12
The 6A12 is a 2.0 litre V6 engine. It is available with both 24-valve single overhead cam and 24-valve double overhead cam configurations. Further variations include intercooled twin turbo and MIVEC on DOHC versions. All displace 1998 cc and have a 78.4 mm x 69.0 mm bore and stroke. Compression ratios also vary, being 9.5:1 for eary SOHC versions, 10.0:1 for late-model SOHC, DOHC and DOHC MIVEC versions and 8.5:1 for twin turbo versions.
Power and torque for each is:
- SOHC: 107 kW @ 6000rpm/181 Nm @ 4000 rpm
- DOHC: 132 kW @ 7000rpm/191 Nm @ 4000 rpm
- DOHC with MIVEC: 147 kW @ 7500 rpm/200 Nm @ 6000 rpm
- DOHC Twin Turbo: 177 kW @ 6000 rpm/308 Nm @ 3500 rpm
The SOHC version was used in the seventh generation Galant and first generation Diamante, the vanilla DOHC in the FTO, the MIVEC DOHC in the FTO and Galant VX-R and the twin turbo in the seventh generation Galant VR-4.
6A13
THe 6A13 is the largest of the 6A1x series. It is a 2.5 litre V6 engine with a displacement of 2498 cc. It utilises a 81.0 mm x 80.9 mm bore and stroke and is available in 24-valve single overhead cam and twin turbo double overhead cam specifications. The SOHC version uses a 9.5:1 compression ratio and produces 129 kW at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm at 4500 rpm. The DOHC twin turbo uses a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and produces 191 kW at 5500 rpm and 343 Nm at 4500 rpm.
The SOHC version was used in overseas eighth generation Galants and the second generation Diamante. The twin turbo DOHC was used in the eigth generation Galant VR-4.
