4A9x family

The 4A9x family of engines are inline 4 cylinder engines designed by Mitsubishi. It is the successor to the Orion engine. All feature an all-alloy design with double overhead camshafts, MIVEC and four valves per cylinder.

The engine is built at the joint Mitsubishi-DaimlerChrysler facility - MDC Power in Germany and has been available since 2003.

4A90

The 4G90 is a 1.3 litre engine displacing 1332cc. It has a 75.0 mm x 75.4 mm bore and stroke with a 10.5:1 compression ratio, Mitsubishi claims power figures of 70 kW at 6000 rpm and torque of 125 Nm at 4000 rpm. THe engine has seen service in non-Australian RG Mitsubishi Colts.

4A91

The 4G91 is a 1.5 litre engine displacing 1499cc. It has a 75.0 mm x 84.8 mm bore and stroke with a 10.0:1 compression ratio, power is claimed to be 80 kW at 6000 rpm and torque 145 Nm at 4000 rpm. It has been used in the RG Mitsubishi Colt both in Australia and overseas.
