The Astron Diesel engine debuted in 19XX and was based upon the Astron petrol engine.
4D55
2.4 Litre displacing 2346cc. Available with or without turbo. The 4D55 has a 91.1x90.0mm bore and stroke. In Australia this engine was used in the L200, L300 and Pajero.
4D56
2.5 Litre displacing 2476cc. Available with or without turbo. Uses a 91.0x95.0mm bore and stroke and was fitted to the L300, Pajero and Triton.
4D57
2.6 Litre displacing 2607cc displacement with direct injection. Built from 1996 onwards and also known as the Hyundai D4BB.
