The [[TE]] and [[TF]] Magna used the 4G64, a 2.4 Litre single overhead cam belt-driven 16 valve engine. It was the only engine to be used in the Magna which was not assembled at [[Lonsdale]]. The engine was instead imported from [[Shiga]] in Japan.

The version of the 4G64 used in the Magna featured roller rockers, a one-piece cast camshaft and an alluminum intake manifold. As with other 4G64s there were different camshafts for automatic and manual transmissions.

As with the [[Astron II]], the Sirius engine featured [[balance shaft|balance shafts]], but unlike the Astron these were belt driven, eliminating the chain rattle the Astron became known for.

Due to the $750 price difference between the Sirius and the V6 engine, Sirius powered Magnas are relatively uncommon.
