The name was used from April 1985 until October 2005, when it was replaced by the [[Mitsubishi 380]].<br /> <br /> The Magna was intended to replace the [[Sigma]] and was designed to be superior in every regard. Thanks to it&#039;s front-wheel drive layout it became a competitor to the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore due to it&#039;s roominess and comparable power.<br /> <br /> The Magna has been well regarded by many, including the motoring press winning Wheel&#039;s Car of the Year in 1985 ([[TM]]) and 1996 ([[TE]]/[[KE]]). The Magna has been renowned for it&#039;s high levels of refinement and as being an enjoyable drive.<br /> <br /> The Magna enjoyed sales success up until 2003 when the controversial Oliver Boulay designed [[TL]] Magna was released.</div>
